Dr. Breakfast – 2011

178445038_640The most important meal of the day is of course breakfast. When preparing an incredible array of meals for himself, our lonely protagonist, upon munching down a piece of crispy bacon, has an experience like no other.
A spirit-like being emerges from the man, leaving him to sit there in a unconscious state with no more food while the so called ‘Dr. Breakfast’ runs rampant, eating and drinking everything ‘breakfast’. It’ not just traditional breakfast foodstuffs he devours. Soon, his focus simply turns to anything and everything. A metaphor for consumerism? Maybe that’s a little too far fetched…

With the assistance of two deer who witness the transformation and experience of the central character, he is cleaned up, showered, dressed and catered for; and yes, the deer speak in English to one another.

This is a delightful little short film that is silly, clever and all sorts of fun. Whoever thought of the idea must be some sort of maniac with an obsession for breakfast, but nevertheless, we should be thankful for it. Not being a fan of breakfast myself, this short piece has certainly shined a new light on the topic. Who knew it could be so much fun?!
